My process

How does therapy work?

01

Free 15 Minute Consultation

Deciding to get help can feel daunting. With this in mind, I offer an optional 15 minute online video consultation so that we can explore whether an assessment would be helpful. There is no obligation to book a follow-up appointment after this consultation.

02

Initial Therapy Assessment

During your therapy assessment in Hertford, we will explore your difficulties in more depth, set some goals, and determine which therapy approach is most likely to help you.

On the rare occasion where I feel I am not the right therapist for you, I will signpost you to someone who may be a better fit for your needs.

03

Talking Therapy

My approach to counselling in Hertford is always bespoke and collaborative, with 50 minute sessions occurring on a weekly basis where possible.

The duration of therapy will depend on you and your specific goals, but typically ranges from 6 – 40 sessions.

Counselling Services

I use a range of therapeutic approaches guided by the evidence base and tend to use them integratively (combining elements from more than one model) because we are all different and there is no “one size fits all”. The approach I take will be personalised to you and what you want to get out of your sessions with me.

My main therapeutic approaches are Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) and Eye Movement Desensitation and Reprocessing (EMDR Therapy).
